For adults wanting to improve their knowledge or youths
looking for fun activities, the Office of Continuing Education
at Nicholls State University may be just the ticket. This office
provides non-credit courses for students of all ages. The
courses are generally open to the public, and having a high
school diploma is not a prerequisite. Most courses are
offered on the Nicholls campus in Thibodaux, but some
may be offered at various off-campus locations. Courses
vary each semester. Courses offered in 2008 include:

Located in the heart of the campus, the union offers a variety of
meeting rooms and catering options, as well as the Cotillion
Ballroom, University Bookstore and gourmet dining choices.

Peltier Auditorium.........................................................985-448-4143
With a seating capacity of 900, this auditorium is a favorite location
for lectures and seminars. It is located in Peltier Hall on Madewood Drive.

Talbot Theater................................................................985-448-4143
This 400-seat facility is the home of musical performances as well
as productions by the Nicholls Players, the university's student
drama organization.

Lula Ameen Art Gallery.................................................985-448-4597
Throughout the year art exhibits in various media are displayed
here. The gallery is housed on the 2nd floor of Talbot Hall at the
corner of Acadia Drive and Ellendale Drive. The center located on
Madewood Drive behind the University Police Department.

This center provides a variety of family support programs in
addition to directing interested parties to family referral sources,
via on-site classes and telephone assistance.

Center for Traditional Louisiana Boat Building........985-448-4634
Seeking to preserve the dying art of the wooden boat, the Center
offers classes to build old-style indigenous wooden boats of all
sorts. Many are on display on the ground floor of Ellender Memorial
Library on Leighton Drive on the NSU campus. Other center boats
can be seen at Laurel Valley Plantation on La Hwy 308.
