DRIVER'S LICENSES/REGISTRATION
.First-time drivers must be at least 17 years old to apply for
a personal driver's license, and must pass a written test,
driving test and vision exam.

.New residents to Louisiana must obtain a LA driver's
license, register their vehicle and obtain a LA license plate
within 30 days of establishing residency. Drivers with valid
out-of-state licenses need only pass the vision exam.

.The cost is approximately $24.50 for a 4-year license,
although fees vary according to parish. Only cash, cashier's
check or money order accepted.

BRAKE TAGS / INSPECTION STICKERS
..Louisiana residents are required to pass annual motor
vehicle safety inspections. Individuals with vehicles
registered in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville,
Livingston and West Baton Rouge Parishes must be
inspected in their parish, and the cost is $13.00.
..In all other parishes, the cost is $10 at any service station
with a red "Official Motor Vehicle Inspection Station" sign.

VOTER REGISTRATION
To register to vote you must be:
..A citizen of the United States
..A resident of the state and county/parish
(and city, if applicable) in which you want to vote
..At least 17 years old, and 18 years old prior to the next election
..Not currently under an order of imprisonment for
conviction of a felony
..Not currently under a judgment of interdiction for mental incompetence

You may apply at any of the following State offices:
Registrar of Voters, Motor Vehicle, Social Services, WIC,
Food Stamp, Medicaid, offices serving persons with
disabilities, Armed Forces recruitment centers, or by mail.
You must be registered at least 30 days prior to be eligible
to vote in the next election.
